Healthier Afterschool Programs


The YMCA’s afterschool curriculum has
been enhanced in several ways to
include more physical activity and
healthier snacks, and to reduce screen
time to educational and physically
interactive programs.
Offered in partnership with Healthy
Lombard, OPYOW, and Kiwanis, youth in
some sites build their strength through
pull ups. Each student moves at his or
her own individual level and not only
engages regularly in physical activity but
improves their self esteem by tracking
their progress.
